Winnipeg,
I just finished installing the new TB Shaft seals and reassembled everything. I used Copper RTV to reseal the TB and the TB elbow. I tested the action of the throttle body and everything is working smooth.

I did a boost leak test after everything was put back together and I am happy to say that everything is finally air tight.

I also changed the spark plugs and gapped them to .028 and I am about to change the fuel filter.

I have a problem now with a CEL code p0505 and the car is now stalling when I come to a stop. It will idle for a few seconds at 750rpm with 20 in. Hg. (which seems good) and then will take a big sudden drop to around 250 and then stall out. It is doing this almost all the time. I did drive for awhile yesterday and it didn't happen at all but then the problem resurfaced later that night when I went for a drive.

Any one have any ideas as to what to start looking for or if I may have done something wrong when I worked on the TB seals?..

I'm on my last straw with this car. It seems as soon as I fix one thing, something else goes wrong. :banghead:

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris.

did you scribe/mark your TPS before taking it off so you could line it up again while installing it?

The TPS should read .63V when closed and 4.5-5.0V when fully opened

you will most likely need to readjust it.

Throttle Body O-Ring

TPS Adjustment

Ive done 3 TB seal replacements, on my car and 2 friends, and none have had the problem you are talking about.

If you do/did this and you still have the problem, its proble something with the IAC.
Make sure you plugged it back in when you put everything back together and pray you didnt lose the O-Ring that goes in the TB where it bolts up. altho you shouldnt have even had to touch this (less unplugging it) to get the TB off the car and do the seals.

Good luck

All my vacuum lines are good. Boost leak test is air tight. 750 in.Hg. at 750rpm.. I did infact mark the sensor in several spots and lined it up exactly as it was.

My EGR is blocked off but has been so for awhile now and Ive never had problems with that.

I haven't tested the IAC yet, but I unplugged it today to see if it would make any difference in how the car idles and oddly enough it idles fine now. Would this indicate that there is indeed something wrong with the IAC or could there still be another problem.

Thanks again,
Chris.

its the IAC.

try pulling it out and cleaning it, but its sounds to me that like you will need a new one.

dumpster diving!
AKA Junkyard!

Ya'll i'll put it out and test it, but it seems like it must be the sensor.

Thing that sucks the most is that there are no eclipses around my area. I live in Canada and imported the vehicle. And there are very few talons to be had as well. Maybe ebay would be my best bet.

Thanks for the replies.

It's not going to blow anything up, if that's what you're asking :)

You'll probably throw a CEL, but if it idles and drives ok, there are no other issues to worry about.

Gonna start looking for an IAC as my idle is kinda crappy. Now I just want to know what IAC's will fit on the 2g turbo eclipse.

I read all 1g tubo/non-turbo and 2g turbo.

Will an IAC from a 420a neon fit?
