On my 95 talon, it still has the original exhaust from the factory and it is so rusted its not worth having so I'm ready to cut it off because the bolts hoding it up will just not come loose, after a cupple of cans of PB blaster and other sprays.

My main question is, can I cut the wire at the very end of the O2 sensor and re-strip the wire to use for a new O2 sensor? Specifically the rear 02 sensor? The old O2 sensor feels impossible to get out

If you remove the drivers seat there is a connection where you can just unplug the rear o2 from the harness so no cutting is needed.

I just took my rear o2 out the other day, because I'm replacing it with the wideband sensor. Went through a lot of PB blaster and it still wouldn't budge. As mentioned, just remove the driver's seat and you should be able to disconnect it and drop the line down from there. For what its worth, I had a guy take a torch to heat up the exhaust and remove the old sensor in order to remove it if you were thinking about trying to save it at all.

Thanks for the quick replies guys much appreciated. Is this plug under the drivers seat for the very rear 02 sensor? Isn't there an O2 sensor in the middle of the car too?

I mean is it still possible to cut the wire like I was saying earlier? Just not sure how hard it will be to get a new wire from under the car to the drivers seat connection.

That is the rear o2, the front o2 is on the o2 housing off the turbo. Don't cut the wire, the rear o2 seriously is about 1 foot of wire before you can just unplug the connector. Just take the driver seat off and you'll see it go down to the rear o2 sensor near the centor console (its the only thing there). You may have to remove the panel right by the center console too, just to unplug the connector, but this is SOOO much easier than having to cut the wire and reuse it. Just remove the driver's seat first before you think about cutting it and you'll see how much easier it is just to unplug it and pull it through the floor, and for the new wire just do the reverse :thumb:.

I would definitely do this. I was impatient when I installed my after market exhaust and almost considered cutting it like you mentioned. I bent a wrench trying to get the damn thing loose. I did end up getting mine out though. It just took a really strong guy and a lot of leverage.
