hahah...the opinion seems universal. I've known mike (and Jason Siebles if you remember him ) from when they were called ASP (advanced street performance) about 15 years ago. And if you think Mike is full of himself, well you never met jason. He's the one who bought eh eurpean "GEMS" system rights to sell them in north america, then resold them to AEM as the AEM plug-n-tug systems

Mike's not a bad guy, I can identify with some of why he is the way he is. There[s only so much you can put up with of kids coming in wanting "stage 3 turbos on their cavaliers" and asking 4 million questions about a cold air intake. If youre too nice people waste your time, buy crap on ebay and then bring it to you AFTER they f*&k the car all up wanting you to fix their mess. I've never been screwed by him or the Shop as a long of people claim to have been , but then again i never put myself in a position to be. I fbricate for Jason here and there as well as tune some stand alones, and i dyno my ride at murphy's now and then as well. Once you get past the facade, mike's actually an alright guy. I lived in the same neighborhoos as him for years

as for mike f(*&ing up cars when tuning, well.. that's one that i'm not sayin anything about but what i will say is that if you take a car that's not up to snuff and tell him to make all the power he can out of it, well, sometimes they blow up. I've re-tuned a lot of his tunes after things such as that (blowing up on the dyno and so forth) and while i agree that you shou'dn't tune a customers car to the raggged edge unless they ask for that exactly, you also should make sure the parts are up to the levels of power you're trying to pull out of it. and of course he owns a 'heartbreaker" mustang dyno which it's numbers dno't make very many people happy at all, but dyno's aren't for saying who's cars the fastest, they are solely a tuning tool to tell what's made gains and what hasn't. Out of all of us who tune n the area (i am a haltech certified tuner and retailer) there's only a few of us who tune to make sure the car will last, some tune to make the most horsepower at the expense of engine life, and some "learn" while tuning other peoples cars which is a recipe for disaster

another reason so many people talk trash on him is they bring a rigged up half dead car to him andwhen he tells them all that's wrong with it they don't want to belive it because "well it ran when i took it in" and he refuses to put them backtogether with broken/bad parts wher he would be liable for it after that.

Now there may be some who truely got done wrong, but tht's where you have to stick to your guns (if you do in fact know what you're tlaking about) and not let some one get away with swindling you.

I've heard the same things about everyone in town, sublime, 3d motorports and "the shop" and having known all of these people for quite some time i can say they are all knowledgeable mechanics that can build a fast car, there's just always going to be some one un-happy tht wants to try and ruin some one's name (again why i only take certain peoples work on, and then refferals from the ones i do work with... but you won't find anyone getting a cold air intake, or anything made by Greedy and the rest of thecrap companies from me)

I use to advertise but got the same kid-iots who never spent a dime, but wanted you to outlay hours of your time telling them the best plan on how to setup their cars, only to go spend the money elsewhere (ebay) on half ass parts that were passed off as something good after you workup a complete plan on a build for them. Not to mention how many kids try and scam by not paying part of the biill and so one, yet expacting to take their cars. Murphy's biggest issue for a long time was finding good help, he had to answer so many questions during the day he never got to work on customer cars, and when he had help they wouldn't know something and drag him out of the back from doing "work" and make him play mr. answers at the counter for hours. NOw days he has some decent help (or did have a year or two ago last i was building my new engine and needed some things)

and like i said, that's why i don't advertise, i keep my clientel very selective, turning away most typical "rice" which is where a lot of shops make money, but they also get the headaches and trash talk afterwards when the K&N didn't yield 50+ HP... The way i do it i get to fab stuff for a lot of very high end cars in the area, and although i dont slap stickers all over their cars, when we go out and run em late at night i get my respect :)

Mainly what i've seen in omaha in the 15 years i've been here from th east coast is a bunch of dramatic shit talkers (not everyone but a damn good majority) and putting up with them will drive anyone to be a dick at times and take ya for the money they can to make up fo the time they've had to waste

now i'm noit talkin ish on any particular people as i have no one to name, but these people are easy to spot out on a saturday night when we all get together...their the ones we leave behind and head for our own secluded spots when the po-po come and everyone splits

i like mike and the people at sublime, i met him at a carshow a few years back and came to his shop and he rememberd me and even my name. i say thats some good customer service.
