Reliability of OEM tach?

I know that the oem "boost" guage is a unreliable POS, but is the tach the same way? The reason I'm asking is that when I accelerate, it climbs at normal rate at WOT until it hits about 4k and then it stops climbing (or climbs very slowly), but I know the rpms are still climbing cuz I hear it. Is it that the tach is POS or is mine just broke?

i think yours is just broke , theres no problem with the 'reliability' of any of the instruments in our cars. The boost gauge is well , unprecise and lags like hell. I think the tach is pretty good .

Mine works fine but compared to my logger and safc, my tach is off by about 75-100 rpms at idle and about 250-300 rpms at 7000. It is no big deal because it reads higher than it actually is. I have never had a problem with it not working though.

Mine is also on average 150 - 250 RPM off as shown by the avc-r
