Im 16, buying my first car and wont have big money to dish out on big repairs.

Im looking to buy a 1g and dont think i car afford one with -120kms. I read alot of forums and reviews about talons and thier reliability, and seems that most dont last beynd 100k without a major repair (ften a tranny/engine rebuild. )

with a rebuilt tranny or a rebuilt motor last another 70-90 km if driven properly? Will a 1g possibly go up to 160-180kms without a engine or tranny rebuild?

I plan to get exaust, and a boost gauge and leave it at that for mods, will this ahve much affect on reliability?

thanks

they are high maintanance but don't listen to the oldies talking about first high school car stuff i am 17 and i maintain my car just fine i change the oil every 2,500 miles i put a new clutch in MYSELF and a valve cover gasket

you will fall in love with the thrill of speed and make it faster and keep it running if it was meant for you

but remember its not a v8(cave man engine) they take time to work on just be patient though

i have a turbo CRX that has 405,000 miles on a Z-71 truck that i have had sence i was 16 with 230,000 on it and i have a 92 Laser RS AWD that has 175,000 all in miles. The truck is on its third 350 so sence then i have learned to not by rebuilt motors just do the work your self the CRX had the stock HF motor at 370,000 when that was pullied still running to put in a B16 that is now has a turbo and is running 7.5psi on the stock 10.5:1 compresstion. so the point is if you do the work on the cars they will last you the turbo honda is much faster then the DSM but the dsm is a battle tank where the honda if you get hit you are a dead man. the DSM does take much more manitance then the other two cars the truck is really easy to mantain but i have just got 2 bad motors in that :( So that is my 2cents on high mile cars.

As long as you do the maintenance and replace the belts it will last, I have seen DSM's with over 200K on them as long as you do the maintenance.
Exactly, I have 228000 miles and still have great compression and it runs flawless.
