Defect: THE HEADLAMP SUPPORT PANEL CAN DEVELOP A FATIGUE CRACK WHERE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) HYDRAULIC UNIT IS ATTACHED, ALLOWING THE HYDRAULIC UNIT TO FALL DOWN.

Consequence: LOSS OF BRAKING CAN RESULT IF THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT FALLS. THIS CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Corrective Action: DEALERS WILL CONNECT THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT ATTACHMENT POINT AT A RIGID PORTION OF THE HEADLAMP SUPPORT PANEL WITH A BRACKET AND REINFORCE THE HEADLAMP SUPPORT PANEL BY ADDING A BACK PLATE.

Call your nearest Mistu dealer and see if there are any recalls that your vehicle needs done. The balljoint one listed above is one I see all the time. Those lower control arms are quite spendy so I tell customers to go to the dealer and have it done for free.:thumb:
 
I hate to bring up an old thread but I just got a 97 Spyder GS-T around 6 months ago and I was searching for recalls. I found this thread and see that the ball joints are a real problem, but I never had recall work done to my cars so I'm not sure what to do. Can I just call them and ask about the recalls or will I have problems being that I'm the 3rd owner the car has 93K on it and its been droped?
 
Nope, recalls never expire. You could be the 30th owner and they are still required to fix the problem.

Just call the dealer and they will be able to tell you if the recall has been performed on your car. Just make sure you have the VIN handy before you call. :thumb:

EDIT -> There is nothing wrong with bringing back an old thread. I feel it's nice to have as much information in the same post as possible. As opposed to having 100 threads with variations on the same question.
 
Im the 3rd owner of my talon, and just had ball joint recall work done. It had also been done in 2000.They do it as long as it is on the road still being driven no matter what.

I would say they don't know what they are talking about since the recall applies to 2g.

If your car is broke, fix it.
 
Was there ever a recall on the timing belts for the GS-T's? I know these are notorious for breaking. Every car you see on autotrader that is turbo talks about having the timing belt being replaced. Or am I just stupid and scroll past it?
 
Thanks for bringing this back up, I forgot about this recall and I didn't know that it doesnt matter how many owners have had the car. I'm gonna go to the dealership sometime before I put my car off the road before winter to get it checked out.;)
 
so that was a recall then??? I couldnt remember if it was or not. Also i know this is off topic but does it matter if you have the timing belt cover off or not??? mines off right now and my buddy keeps telling me that if stuff gets in there it could make big problems too
