I recently bought a 1990 Talon TSI AWD w/a blown motor. Only mod on it was a Big 16G Turbo. I had to get the cylinders bored out .40 due to #3 piston was missing a chunk out of it and its rod was fractured. So I bought new weisco pistons and eage rods for it. I put her all back together and thats where my problems begin.

First problem is I'm leaking coolant somewhere, it get all over my eginne. I watched the pipes, checked for drippage. Checked the freeze plugs and water pump. Radiator has no leaks form it. Only leaks when I drive it. Its fine if it idles. It has a new topline head gasket on it. So, i'm a lil stumped there.

Next problem is i'm losing oil badly. Can not find a leak anywhere. Turbo lines are fine, oil pump is fine, head and valve cover is fine. oil pan isn't dripping any either. Any ideas on this?

The third problem is there white smoke coming form my exhaust and flex pipe. I wouldnt think there is a head leak, it has a new gasket on it. New pistons and rings also. Could it be the turbo?

Last problem I couldnt get my car to go ito gear. So first, I replaced the slaved cylinder, then the master cylinder, new oem clutch kit, then I shimed the pivot ball on the clutch fork. I read somewhere to try a stronger clutch. I them bought a ram power grip heavy duty clutch w/street disc(whole kit). It them whet into gear. But, you have to push it all the way to the floor to disengage it.

Last problem is it idles really bad. the rpm's go up and down by a few hundred. #1 piston is @ tdc, and timing marks are aligned I also have aem cam gears. No mattter if i advanced or retard the timing it still idles like crazy.

Any help what so ever is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced
Chris

What HG did you use to rebuild it?

If you still get thefunny idle fter the gasket change try adjusting the Biss SCREW ON THE tb TIGHTER. Caps lock! I have been through the clutch and have the fix. please email me when needed. I am pressed for time right now. Thanks, mark

what could have happened to my hg? I torqued the bolts right and cleaned both surfaces. It's a brand new hg, is it because its a cheap one?I wont know for sure if its the hg till monday or tues. I ordered a new one from mitsu.

Just curious if you figured out if it was the headgasket.? I too am having a problem with my topline head gasket sealing right... My OEM mitsu one will be here on monday though, so hopefully that will fix it.

yes your turbo would cause you to blow white smoke and cause oil consumption, i would check that out before you go through all the trouble of changing your head gasket.

Sounds just like when I got my engine rebuilt. It was the steel cometic headgasket and I even used the gasket spray. Used the oem Mitsubishi headgasket after and never had problems again.
