Rear hatch filling with water

As the title says. My hatch is filling with water. Today I opened it and damn near a gallon of water pours out into my trunk. Where or how is it filling with water? I tried siliconing the holes for mounting the wing andthat didnt help. Maybe it wasnt enough but Im unsure where else water can enter.

My guess would be the rubber seals at the top of the hatch or if you have a sunroof the drains might be plugged. Also check the drain holes on the sides of the hatch. if they are plugged it will allow water to leak into the trunk area.

Its the inside of the hatch not the trunk filling, but literaly the inside of the hatch. Ill check the sun roof tomorrow. The trunk draind looked to be clear Ill tripple check tho. Rubber seal? The one on bottom of window?

wow its the actual hatch, that's weird. My only guess would be the holes for the wing but if you siliconed them im stumped.

Yeah you and me both. Im gonna try siliconing it again, but Im clueless how the actual hatch keeps filling up.

Same thing was happening to my 92. I had to lat a bead of silicone along the bottom and lower corners of the glass on the hatch. Just enough was being allowed to go through there, then fill up the bottom of the hatch. Once I sealed that area, the problem went away.

Could be the covering for the glass only other way I can think of water getting into the trunk.

Does it have a rear wiper? If so, it's probably leaking around where the shaft of the wiper motor and the arm attaches. The motor is mounted underneath and the shaft sticks up through a hole which has a rubber seal to keep it sealed off from the outside. So check that out, because I bet that's where your water is coming from. Good luck

Ill try the window think. I do have a rear wiper but I silaconed that also

I also had an issue (on a 1g) with the trim on the lower portion of the glass I also siliconed it and fixed my issue.

Has your car been painted? Reason I ask is... I have the same problem after mine was painted, and when they prep the body, they remove the spoiler. There are rubber gaskets that the screws go through that into the hatch, and they're always dry rotted so they don't live through being separated. If they're not replaced, they leak. I siliconed the bolts, but it wasn't enough apparently.

My solution has been garaging it. It's got so much polished aluminum in the engine bay that I don't even drive it when it's humid. I already replaced the drain tubes when I re-assembled it, and they're draining.

When it's warmer, I'm going to remove all the interior plastics and garden-hose it while crawling around inside.

There wasnt any sort of rubber seal under the wing. I will see if more silicone helps and invest in a new seal.
