okay when I was putting in a rear axle on my awd tsi 96 the rear differential was wiggling around a lot. I was looking at spots to tighten it and at the very rear of the rear differential there are two big bolts that hold it to the car. There is like some old rubber or something around the bolts that are worn cracked and just not useable, and when I wiggle the differential the bolts move between the rubber. Anyone know what I'm talking about and know how to get this differential tightened up?

Sounds like your rear diff bushings are worn out

Now you can't get these bushings from the dealer...you have to buy aftermarket...some of our supporting vendors offer replacement rear diff bushings that are stiffer and more of an upgrade then just a replacement...RoadRaceEngineering is one place, also Slowboy Racing

Also the subframe has to be dropped, the old bushings pressed out and the new ones pressed back in
