Really loud noise when braking in reverse

Hey guys, whenever i back up and hit the brakes (ESPECIALLU WHEN IT IS HUMID/WET) the car makes a loud GROANNN (its embarassing cause it makes me feel like my car is a POS) I just had all 4 brakes pads replaced and it still does it. Brought to a mechanic and he said its fine. Whats causing this noise?

Before I changed my pads mine was even worse than it is now. It does it rarely now and only when braking. Before it did it regardless whether I was braking or not. When I did the pads a greased the slides that the claliper moves on. I would check your pads to see how worn they are mine were ate up down to the steel on one side and 1/4 worn on the other side. I greased the cables also.

Mines worse, when my muffler is cold and I accelerate it makes that grinding creaking noise and sounds like my cars gonna explode, now THAT is embarrasing. I feel your pain. DAMN YOU DSM!

I just changed the break pads on my 94 Talon and with the new pads i had this similar problem loud noise when brakingin reverse..
I took my car on a road trip to wear down the pads a little to see if this noise would go away, and guess what, after all that hard breaking i did my car doens't vibrate as loud in reverse anymore..

Hopefully as my pads wear down these noises will go away

cold weather + snow = loudest god damn noise i have ever heard come from a car. I have had it checked by 2 mechanics now and they say the brakes are working fine. I hate this POS

From what I can figure out on my car it either comes from worn pads, the caliper sliders not greased well, or a sticky caliper. I recently replaced my pads and greased the sliders which almost cured the problem. Now however the drivers side caliper started sticking. You can tell when they are by the amount of brake dust that accumulates.

I say rear calipers need rebuilding - were your old pads so bad they ground the rotor perhaps?

changes the pads, did the rotors, still does it.. My Solution, park backwards.. haha so that i don't have to reverse and brake!! hehe

But did you rebuild the rear calipers - the software - the quad rings & seals?

Mine makes the same sound, i took it to a mech. and he said it was because I had "cheap" brake pads, and there are tiny metal particles in my "cheap" brake pad that are making the squeeling sound.

well i changed my pads and machined my rotors but still does it.. starting to think bout them brake pads.. there the ones with the lifetime warranty.. so i'm thiking maybe cause of what there made of, there too hard..and vibrates when cold.. its only when its cold and backing up.

My 92 gsx always had the noise until I got the rotors turned and switched to Axxis metal masters. No more brake moan.
