hmm yeah mine throws the RM all the time, what i've been doing for a temp solution is just resetting the ecu everytime i turn the car on with a datalogger. Mine doesnt throw the code untill after i shut the car off and restart it, then the CEL light comes on and it missfires like crazy, so i pull over reset the ecu, and im good till i have to turn the car off and on again. Kinda like the ecu is running a diag check on reboot like a regular computer... LarryD your description sounds more like a timing belt slip or something more than a RM. When the RM kicks in you should just notice a loss in power and inability to accelerate, NOT a bucking and drastic kicking. This sounds like some type of seizure perhaps? I'm sure you're aware of this group dedicated to 1gs in 2g cars, but I'll post it anyways just in case..... [email protected] I've gotten a lot of help from the guys in this user group...

Sorry to dig up an old old post, but did you ever figure this out, Larry?

I'm experiencing the same thing and i'm pretty sure it's due to the 1g CAS with my 95 ECU...but I'd love to hear if something else has been found that helps/cures the problem.

I found that a random cylinder misfire is a common known problem from the 1g in a 2g swap. It has something to do with using a 1st gen CAS with a 2nd gen ECU. I fixed it by disabling the CEL code through DSMlink.

icic... it's as i feared...i think that's the cause of my p0300 as well.

I just thought you tried the DSMlink 'misfire watch-out disable' at the beginning of this thread... my bad. Glad you got it fixed...it's annoying as hell! hehe

Guess it's haltech time.

thanks buddy.

Yeah I thought I had tried that as well but I stated in this thread that my CEL came on which obviously means the DSMlink had been reset and the allowed the codes to show.

Larry

You have had problems with Toyotas now Mitsus. Why don't you get a Honda and see what happens. One of these days you will find a car that likes you.. :D

no..
he just used the dsmlink and checked the box that disables the RM CEL.

I wanna buy a dsmlink now.

random misfire codes on most OBD II equipped vehicled that i work on during the day (mostly domestics, mind you) usually end up being a stuck EGR valve. maybe a piece of carbon holding the pintle open a bit.
that will most definetley cause a random misifre. and cause the car to buck hard.
