I have a fully stock 95 Talon TSI FWD. It has 95,000 miles on it. I am wanting to do some mods before raising the boost. I planned on getting these mods done in teh next few weeks before i go on to raise the boost:

Intake
Upper and Lower IC Pipes
1g BOV

After getting those minor upgrades would it be safe to raise my boost? Also I was wondering if when I go to raise my boost what is a safe level to put it at. I know that the stock T-25 are pretty crappy, well its better than no turbo at all, but I have been told not to go over 16psi. I want to know if there are any other upgrades I should do before raising boost that would prevent problems? Please help me Im not an expert on DMS's.

yeah i wouldn't go over 16psi with it, especially with that many miles on it. Also, i would make sure that you have a real boost gauge and not the stock one as it is very inaccurate.

i would leave everything else alone until you do more upgrades. chekc out the upgrade path on this site and itll tell you what you need to do.. but if u insist on installing a mbc 15psi-16psi max and that might be pushing it since from the factry your ####hing like 12 or 13 if that

Get a nice 3" exhaust. Will give you alot more HP than IC piping at your level of mods and will never need upgrading :thumb:

As for boost, 16psi is the most I'd try for on a T-25. Yea others my run more but unless you have a T-28/16G waiting to go on don't try it.

True story, a friend of mine loved to run 18psi (spikes to 20psi) on his brand new 95AWD until the turbo grenaded with 20K on the odometer.

Not only do you not have the fuel to keep up with higher than 16 psi but the t-2 small is just blowing hot air after 16 psi if im not mistakin. If you wanna try to squeek out alittle extra boost try to rewire your fuel pump. I believe there a FAQ on this website explaining how to do it. If not here VFAQ.com definately has it.

I was misinformed when i first started modding my 95 tsi and i had the 3in turbo back exhaust, upper and lower i/c pipes and a type s bov...i boosted my stock t-25 to about 18 psi with it spiking to 20-21 and a few months later the exhaust wheel was blowing smoke like a banshee.

in other words, get more power with bolt on's first and then worry about more boost.

Im gonna agree with the post above me.Do your basic stage 1 mods (ie intake, exhaust, ic pipes, fuel pump...etc) Then when you get all that done go ahead and turn up the boost on ur tiny stock turbo. Not only is it safer that way since youll have the fuel but youll get more outta the car. Might i suggest one of your next investments be a datalogger of some sort. You have no idea how valuable they can be. Anyways once you get to this point you'll be rippin as it is. And if you decide to put a bigger turbo on at that point youll see very good gains. If your not sure on your upgrade path check out the tech guide on this site, itll show you the basics.

Upping the boost doesn't mean jack if your exhaust system can't clear out the excess gases. I ran 2 runs a while back. One at stock boost, one at 15psi (without exhaust). Times were almost the exact same. Get at least a cat back before upping the boost.
