Alright I have a 95 talon Esi. I have a after market head unit 50x4 and aftermarket speakers. Lately my radio has been skipping at certain volumes and when I turn it up louder it shuts it off altogether. So I was wondering if the power cable to the radio is to small? I have no idea at all... Help please

:ohdamn: My bad. My brain hasn't been functioning correctly today. No the N/T's didn't come with one. But I still think that your aftermarket speakers are putting too much draw on your head unit, causing it to cut off. That has been the problem with a couple different cars I've seen having the same issue. Usually adding an amp solved the issue.

I don't think your power wire is the culprit. Most aftermarket radios that say 50x4 are not the rms value. Power goes into the radio and then internal amplifiers inside the radio increase the power and send it to each speaker. If you are clipping (sound cuts off or turns off) you could have an overheat issue on the head unit or not big enough wires going to the speakers, your speakers could have too high of a rms value and your radio isn't putting out enough power, or the opposite. It would be best to run a 4 channel amp with the proper gauge wire going to it upgraded gauge wire going to each speaker.

If this problem is more recent then I would lean to the internal amplifier inside the radio is starting to go.
