It's a PITA to keep removing and putting on my front bumper, then I hit upon the idea fter seeing that BF goodrich ad with the toyota MRS, the whole front end is attached with what seems to be a latch. Looks similar to the lacthes used on your good old steel tool box.

so why not uses these suckers? the hhok attaches to the metal fender then the latch is screwed on the to the body kit.

came across a site called pegasus racing and turns out they have these things too, and it don;t look that differnt from the ones on the tool box, the thing is rated at 100 lbs. they also have the one that looks like a spring with the hook, but I like the snap thing better.

wadaya think? the five screws under the hood plus twpo of these thigns

Sounds good. Just tell me where you're parked so I can do my front-end conversion.

LOL!!! Yeah We Both were thinking the same thing while reading about these latches LOL, tell you what I'll do the conversion for you how about that LOL, Sounds good though but only practical if you'd be around your car or for car show purpose or maybe just maybe strictly racing not for street use once guys like us see things like that our fingers may feel lil' sticky LOL!

you can't I've got 95-96 front :D

besides you have to come half way around the world for that, but seriously, I have though about it getting stolen, but I do know there are five screws that hold the bumper in front, a little forward of the hood release, these do hold i pretty securely.

I would think even dzuz fasteners will work since these will be covered and out of reach when the hood is closed.

good thing i live in honda country, the only people who would want my front end are my fellow club members ;)

theft of bodykit won;t be a problem here since there are only a few DSMs and I mean few. 100 in the entire country.

I'll let you guys know after I locate some latches, don;t want to buy a tool box and bust it just for the latches.

I think the most difficult part would be finding locations for these that will provide the support necessary to hold the bumper cover in place. The only place I can think of is where the fender and bumper cover meet, near the wheel wells. This alone will not support the bumper... you still have to attach the wheel-well covers to the bumper, and attach the bumper in the center under the hood to the metal frame piece attached to the radiator support. Also you'd have to get those plastic rivets in place under the headlights (though I do without them and haven't had an issue yet).

If these issues could be addressed I think it'd be a great idea :) I'd love easy access to my fmic for cleaning.

Clean surfaces, extra adhesive and Velcro! Oh, yeah! Add that to latches and it may suffice. Maybe leave a few fasteners in the front of the bumper.

yep, I am definitely keeping the screws under the hood part wih the meal thingy.

TSIAWD, that's exactly where I was thinking of attaching it. The small hook part wil go on to the metal fender and the big latch part on the fiberglass. I wil also make a metal backing plate for it to screw on the the inside and epoxy the sucker tight.

I don't know about the rivets under the headlights cuz I don't have them
either and no problems.

splatjj, extra adhesive is a must for this sucker.

well, we do have DIY day every weekend and everyone wil agree with me, having the bumper off enables you to work on the car better. I've had to take the thing off everytime four of us work on the cars.
