Quick question about shocks.

Ok, so im putting new springs/shocks on my car, but when i pulled them off the dust cover that goes over the shaft of the shock was messed up (ripped, loose, etc) on all 4 shocks. How important is this piece? Also, if it is a must replace do u think the local auto parts store carries them?

A lot of auto parts stores carry replacement shock boots. Yes, replace them because road grit will get to the shafts and destroy them. I purchased the kyb replacement boots when I installed my gr2's.
