questions about MT eclipse

Hey, I wrecked my automatic Eclipse RS, and my friend has a 99 eclipse RS 5 speed that he is selling. I have a couple questions about it. Would his car be faster than mine? I had a cai, exhaust, removed some weight, ngk plugs and wires. His is stock. Also, he said he ran a 17 second 1/4, is he a bad driver or is that the time that most nt's pull? If I put in my cai off the old car and the Apex'i exhaust how much quicker would I be? Assuming I am an ok driver. One last thing, can anyone get the tires to burn a little between shifts on a stock or close to stock? Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I dont know much about manuals. Thanks alot guys

I stick shift allows you to have more control of your car so I'm guessing mod for mod it would be faster than an auto. Why would you want your tires to burn out between shifts?

I dont know that I really want them too, I just wanted to know if it could be done.
