Punishment Racing O2?

I was just wondering if anyone is running the O2 setup from punishment racing?

I've never seen it on a DSM, besides the picture on the website?

Any input from anyone about this would be appreciated!

I should receive the SS version of the atmos dumped o2 housing, I'll post pics of it once I get it.

Well what I can see of the dump tube it is press bent. I can't see the actual O2 housing, so it may be mandrel.

*drool* this pic is taken with my cam. phone thats why its crappy. The SS o2 housing from punishment is seen here bolted to my evoIII 16g. The piece is sturdy, no high temp coating, some little bits of slag on it but who cares. I have not bolted the entire thing up to my car so I cannot say anything about fitment yet.

Eh I know this is old...just wanted to chime in. I ordered both a recirculating, and external dump from them (Just to compare), and sorry but it's horrible, HORRIBLE quality. The welds are very sloppy, the 'high temperature paint' comes off on your hands...I took a flashlight & shined it inside them to see if there was any thin welds..yep. There's one spot on the external dump where I can see a little light coming through a tiny hole, and on the recirculating one there's two spots. The recirculating one also arrived here with a dent in the recirculating tube. They came here in big yellow padded envelopes (Not even wrapped in newspaper)..I called them & asked about a refund, only to have them tell me there are no refunds, and 'me not being satisfied with the quality of the welds' should not entitle me for a refund. I'll never buy from them again :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown I'm about to order one from RnR Racing now.

ive got the recirculating o2 with a 2g exh mani and a big 16g...be ready to make your dipstick tube bend every which way to get it to fit. that was the only fitment problem i had. Yes there are some sloppy welds but i dont see anywhere it interfering with the structural integrity of the piece. Later

After putting some miles on mine (500), I'm happy with it. So what it's not pretty, it's under half a heat shield anyways.. Funtions properly, spool up is rediculous and I had no fitment problems. The piece I recieved had the evo3 flange so it fit perfectly to my evo3 16G. After I get a good amount of miles on it, I'll post another update.

I am also looking into getting one of these o2 housings from punishment, particularly intrested in the DIY o2 eliminator option(I have a welder ). Too bad they dont offer the recirc option in DIY, Im really worried about the noise of the external dump getting me pulled over though. Does anyone know off hand what the California(Central Valley if matters) parameters are for exhaust decibels? And if so are these way too loud? Typical questions I know, just curious how these housings sound. If I can get away with sounding like a dump truck Im all for it. Otherwise Im just going to get the recirc one. Thanks for the space.

Also I am well aware of California state smog laws, so please dont flame me about this detail.

My first post was a bit vauge I guess, sounded too much like the 1000's of other posts I just read through tonight on external dumps. So let me elaborate a bit more. After much reading (seems ALOT of people are concerned with external dump noise), plus listening/watching some sound clips/movies of cars lanching with externally dumped O2 eliminating housings, its seems theyre not that loud until they reach WOT (BTW I really like the sound). I cant be sure if it just sounds this way because of the video/sound clip quality or lack thereof, so people who own them please step in. If so, my main concern then isnt sound during WOT, I can live with that plus Im not going to be hitting WOT around any cops, its during base idling and normal daily driving.

The main deciding factors are as follows:

If I were to pull up next to a cop, would the externally dumped O2 housing get my hood popped? And again if anyone knows if the idle on a 2.5" system with the external dump exceeds the California decibel law, or if it would audibly seem to?

Say I pass the first test above, if I were to drive conservatively next to this hypothetical cop, would modest shifting set him off?

Im sure this all depends on the cop, but lets please assume a typical prudent, objective cop.

Also Im not sure if anyone else has done this, but I am considering trying to make my own O2 eliminating downpipe. The most cost effective parts I can source so far are the DIY punishment racing O2 eliminator housing, RRE DIY 72degree DP bend, RRE DIY DP flange, and either RRE's flex section or the ones from JCWhitney if possible (not sure if they can withstand the exhaust heat). Added up (before shipping, minus the O2 housing which is shipped free), including the expensive RRE flex section, this DP comes out to $193, a big discount over the RNR pipe. Granted RNR is reputable and you know you will get a quality DP, but if this is possible it would be great for people like me who love DIY stuff and on a budget. So has anyone else tried this before? Ive been trying to find another existing thread to post this in so I dont start yet another O2housing thread....Thanks again for the space.

there is no noticable difference in sound at idle or while your turbo is even half spooled, its hwne your really on it and when your wastegate opens , you will know it

The RnR downpipe is quite nice, but the wait on it is very extreme. It took 3+ months to get mine, even though I was told that it would only take "2 weeks". I'm still waiting to put it on because they haven't even shipped everything to me. I just got bits and pieces so far. I pretty much lost the entire summer to test out my car because of the wait.

But, as soon as I get everything on (still not sure when they are shipping the rest of my stuff), I'll post some sound clips and pictures. However, I wouldn't recommend RnR because of the poor customer service and long wait. You're probably better off going with someone else, or even make it yourself if you are able.
