just bought a 95 fwd talon tsi and I love it... by any chance does anybody know if the punishment racing (Home) Budget manifold (the one for $189 shipped)... will bolt right up with a super 16g... the super 16g says you need the install kit with the stock manifold... and the budget manifold says its good for all mitsu turbos (so therefore the budget manifold acts as a stock manifold)... so I was guessing that I would still need the install kit but just wanted to make sure... thanks guys

That is cheaper then cheap, I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. If you're going to get a tubular, get a good one, or prepare for headaches and start saving for another...

Wait, do you already have a 16G mounted and running and you want to upgrade to a mitsu flanged header? if so you dont need a 16G in 2g car install kit.

Punishment seems like an awesome vendor. I will be picking up the budget t3 manifold in a few months.

yea i ran into the same problem with the turbo outlet. it will bolt right up though. and i also say stay away from cheap tubular manifolds

If you are only hanging a 14B or 16G off of it then it will be fine, the weight of a heavy T3/T4 hanging off a cheap manifold combined with the excessive heat is usually what causes them to crack.

:sosad: I guess the HX40 would make it crack. Oh well 1yr warranty and my buddy works at JMFab so I'm not that worried. Plus I'll be running it on a track car only.

Unless you have experience with Punishments budget manifold, don't tell him it will crack. I know of one person that has one. He has never had any problems with it. No, they aren't as good as there more expensive manifolds. But for the money they are very good. They are a good vendor and do back them up with a warranty.

Yeah, the HX40 is a big boy. Is it bolt on? if so then have you looked into the cast FP manifold? I have a friend running a HX35 on one and its a great peice.

I did not say punishments manifold will crack, I said hanging a heavy ass turbo will USUALLY(not always) cause a CHEAP manifold(not Punishments cheap mani) to crack and the OP is running a 16g.

No I used to have the bolt-on .55a/r housing but am now moving on to the .70a/r t3 housing.

I was telling everyone in general. As I'm sure you know people on forums have a bad habit of repeating bad info. When they have no actual experience with the product in question.

Yea it will bolt up
Tubular's crack, period.
Grab a ported 2g manifold or and evo and you'll be good to go. They'll be about the same price and the cast peice will last.

That's a pretty blunt statement, cast cracks as well. Not to get off topic or anything. Im just saying If you have a good manifold like punishments custom tubular manifold, fullrace, shearer manifolds you shouldn't have a problem. I have yet to see one of those manifolds crack. I know a guy with a T67 and a fullrace T3 manifold that has nearly 20,000 on it, and has absolutly no cracks. Here's a pic of my tubular manifold made by punishment. There quality is among the best out there!

I'm only using the budget mani because I'm on a tight budget for the race car. I can't bring myself around to spend 600+ on a decent mani on my salary right now.

I totally understand where your coming form. Im more or less just trying to post some good info pertaining to tubular manifolds in general, seeing as I actually have one of there manifolds. Just not the budget one.

If you are looking for a cheap manifold on a budget the Pacesetter is even cheaper. Everyone that doesn't have one says their junk but I've been running mine for close to 4 years and just shy of 30K, not a single break or crack yet! I have nothing bad to say about this manifold, it works on a budget. It also has a brace for more support.

if punishment is gunna put there name and warrenty on them im pretty sure you shouldnt have a problem.

That's what I'm hoping as I think I'm going to order one of these for my Evo I soon. WIll try to report back as soon as it's with me and installed

He will be able to put another 200k no it with no problems.

High quality tubular manifolds out preform ANY CAST manifold in every way. I can't even begin to understand how people are saying that tubular manifolds crack, and that they prefer cast..

Junk breaks, if you buy a junk tubular manifold it will break, if you buy a junk wastegate or turbo etc.. you will have problems..

If you can't afford to do things properly, be prepared for headaches.. but then again, headaches come with the sport of racing in general haha.
