Ok, finally got my alternator relocation in and done. Now my powersteering belt keeps coming off the pulley when I do I hard pull, if you are driving around nicely it is fine. Looks like the pump might be a cocked sideways in the bracket, but not sure on how to fix it.

Any Idea's would be awesome, thanks. :)

Are you sure the belt is nice and tight and isnt stretched?

Mine is the same way. I bought, but never installed, a new belt. call me lazy. My belt never popped off though

I had the same problem with my 96 Eclipse RS, I had to buy all new pulleys (had a spur on two pulleys and they also weren't aligned right). When it was a said and done i had the same power steering belt on for 4 fours and i would shift at about 6500 rpms, still wouldn't break it like before. Hope that helps!!!

Make sure the bolts on the pump and alternator are tightened correctly, and get a new belt. If the pump and alternator aren't aligned then I wouldn't be using the kit.

The belts are brand new, just put them on with the install, everything is tight. The alternator is perfect, just having a problem with the PS pump.....

Are you certain that the power steering pump pulley isn't on backwards?

never touched the pulley, just took the bracket off and put the spacer in and bolted it back up.

Then I'm stumped. The power steering belt alignment has to be misaligned though. The power steering pump doesn't cause that much resistance and if it did, you would hear a loud, high pitched squeal. I'd check your belt alignment.

When you're tightening the power steering pump down to keep the tension on the belt, how are you tightening down the bolts?

There's a total of 4 bolts that secure the power steering pump. There's 2 in between the pump and pulley (if you rotate the pulley to where the holes are in the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position, you'll see two 12mm bolts through the pulley) and 2 on the opposite side.

So.....there's 2 bolts that bolt to the pivot point of the pump and 2 bolts that "lock" the pump in place.

With the relocation kit, you can't use the second top bolt that is next to the motor. The holes don't line up, there is no chance of getting a bolt through. You are stuck with the 2 pivot bolts and the top one that is behind the pulley.

1) Get rid of power steering 2) Get rid of the alternator relocation kit.

I'm not real familiar on how the kit is installed, otherwise, I'd try to modify the power steering pump bracket to make it work depending how much work would be involved.

If you just loosened the belt, it'll most likely squeal whenever you turn the steering wheel. BUT I guess you could give it a try. Why're you relocating your alternator anyway?

running a hx40 turbo......needed the room for the down pipe

Ok, I think I got it fixed for now. Put some shim stock behind the PS pump on the back side to kick it over some and then loosened up the belt a little from where I had it before. Did a few 3 gear pulls up to 90 and didn't come off once. :)

Thank you for the help.
