ok i think i understand how the apexi afc works, but my question is what steps would i take in getting my 95 eagle talon non turbo ready for this device???? I've read the many posts about this afc but no one really says what is needed. Is it recommended you upgrade your fuel system?

What upgrades have you done that would lead you to purchase an AFC? Usually people who upgrade their fuel pumps and injectors needs an AFC to control the fuel and those are upgraded because they are needed to run higher boost. We need to understand your goals and current/future mods are so we can help point you in the right direction.

its to my understanding that you don't really need to do anything to prep... just make sure you get the right wiring harness....

You dont really need anything to prep for it but a logger would be helpful or a wideband. But all you do is wire it in and if youve got everything set on zero then youll still be at stock setting. From there you can add fuel to an extent or take some away. You dont need any fuel mods unless your running crazy lean and have enough mods currently that you need more fuel. If not then just leave the fuel mods alone unless your planning on future mods that may require them

Maybe I misinterpreted what you said. If I go off of what midget said, then you need some wire taps or a soldering iron and electrical tape/shrink tube. Get the schematics and go over them a couple times so you tap the right lines. Also pick a spot where you want to mount it. There are several locations and there are pics all over this site. You may need a bezel or bracket. That's all I got for now...

well you both helped a lot. thanks. Ill be honest. Im trying to accomplish everything i can do make my car better mechanically. I really am avoiding turbo all together. i know its the best and fastest way to get higher hp but im not mechanically inclined enough to install a turbo kit. let alone change out the pistons and such so they could support the power.. im learning, just not there yet. i have headers, a complete aftermarket exhaust system, and intake.. whats next???????

you're telling me... would it be safe to put a turbo on if it was a stage one or two? or would i need to build the engine up for that?

Since you already stated that you are not mechanically inclined enough to install a turbo kit then I would suggest that you don't attempt it.

However, if you plan on changing your mind in the future then do some serious research. First of all, 420A's are not that hard to turbo, it takes research and gathering of parts if you're not going to get a kit from companies like Hahn or Star. The motor should run up to 8lbs without a need to upgrade your internals or fuel system. If you're leaning towards just having a reliable car then then just stick with what you've got. Common mods for these cars are usually an intake, headers, full catback (preferably without the cat since you're in KY), AF/X UDP etc.
People have also tried cam gears and an IM from OBX but it seems as if those mods were not as efficient as led to be. You can try porting your throttle body and replace it with a jeep throttle body (search and research on this mod please).
All this is off the top of my head and is all I can come up with now, other members can chime in if need be.

And remember, make sure your car is well maintained.

Edit, and to answer the original question:

To answer your original question, SAFC's really dont do shit for 2GNT's to tell you the truth. It seems as if you were just trying to make your car better mechanically but now it seems as if you're looking for more power and the SAFC will barely add any, matter fact you might not see shit. bulletdsm had his car tuned with the SAFC but only gained something like 3 hp I believe (he has the highest HP N/T 2G by the way). Ditch that SAFC an get a AF/X UDP as your next mod and you should be good.

Thanks for the guidance. It was a real big help. Ill look into what you said.

You should. The SAFC is damn near useless to you. It's a complete waste of money. You might as well have bought a VTEC controller. Seriously. Bullettdsm has the highest horsepower all motor 2GNT in the country right now and he got something like 3whp out of it with an SAFC on a fully built motor.

Get rid of this thing, man.
