Well its just that what is the powerband and ideal shift point for a 2g dsm and to be nice any of the others for those looking. I know their is a ton of variables so I'm just looking for a basic idea.
 
Honestly I'd say just take it to redline in any car. The engineers selected gear ratios that figure the power band to RPM matching thing out for you. If you have a mostly stock car, just trust the math they did and shift it at redline.

However some people complain because the T25 doesn't make power up high so they short shift at 6,000rpm. It isn't making any power beyond 6,000rpm so there's no reason to let it keep going, but you have to remember that shifting that early is putting you 1,000rpm lower in the next gear, which will once again put you out of peak power range. Its personal preferance whether you want be out of peak power by being too low or too high.

Like I said, just take it to redline.:thumb:
 
According to your profile, you have a evo 16g. Based on that, I'd say take it to just before redline. The only time you would want to shift any earlier would be if you had a turbo that fell on its face before redline such as a t-25.
 
if you ever get your car dynoed and it shows the rpm per hp, youll notice most stoct cars actually dont carry peak hp at redline and it is actually before redline, and after that peak hp is reached further revving is just futile because your stressing your engine and gears without making any more power, and over spinning doesnt really help the next gear. ( I wont speak for hondas because they seem to like high revs) but Id say a dsm with pretty much a stock set up ( also depending the turbo) should just be revved to like 6500 rpms and speed shifting where you keep your foot on the gas but shift very fast sounds more ideal, but since the peak hp and redline is still somewhat close it wont matter too much either on a stock set up , but I wouldnt go past redline unless your just trying to stretch gears to see what mph you can reach per gear, this is just my opinion.
 
98... well I got a 91.. still a 4g63, and i found that shifting at about 6500 was the best bang for the buck, any further and you lose power. that is with my car so dont take it the same as yours, also I dont have a turbo so its not like im pushing boost.. my advice is to play with it. see what feels faster. set up a marker that you usially hit a speed at. I find that i can do 60 mph in second if I want, but it strains the engine pretty good.
 
Do you know how to drive a manual transmission?? That's a starting point....Drive your car and figure out where your ideal powerband is. That is the best advice you will get. Learn your car, learn to love it (and to hate it :p)
