I know there are a lot of guys from Orlando and FL in general on here. I posted on orl.dsm.org but haven't received a response in 6 days. I'm just curious about Power Auto Sales' rep and the quality of the cars they sell. I'm looking at buying a GSX there and want to make sure I get a top-notch car. I've talked to Manny on the phone and he seems knowledgable, but just wanted an outside opinion.

Thanks.

Okay.. I'm in Orlando.. and this is my problem with them. The have a bold lie on their website. They claim all their cars come bone stock and they do the mods to them. That's BS because a friend of mine had his heavily raced and heavily modified GSX sold near Orlando. It turned up at Power Auto Sales and they claimed they had received it stock and done the $14k of mods to it themselves.. that it was a pristine show car. Hardly. It may have looked nice on the outside but I know of quite a few problems that car went through. Child molesters treat their victims more fairly than that car was treated. Yet they only wanted $12k for the car. RIIIIIGHT. Feel sorry for the sucker who bought it when the clutch hit the floor on their first hard left turn. Manny may be a nice guy, but when such an obvious lie is plainly stated up front, I have a hard time trusting anything about them.

Oh.. and there's one more word for them.. OVERPRICED. You can find plenty of Eclipse/Talon models in just as good of condition for thousands less. Don't be in a rush to buy one - they will show up. I was actually considering paying the overpriced tag for a car at Power Auto Sales since they're 5 minutes from my house, but a great condition GSX showed up on Autotrader for $5k. This car would have cost me $11k-14k at Power Auto Sales.

Thanks for that input. Although I AM looking at buying a black one which he admitted came to them with a 16G and some other little things. He also said he would install GReddy upper & lower IC pipes, Type-S bov, and possible S-AFC + fuel pump (I believe he said fuel pump, but can't be sure).

The reason I'm considering them is because they seem to be pretty professional, the cars look clean (of course that doesn't always mean anything), and I need a car now. Classes start up again for me tomorrow, and I'm trying to sell my current car. They have a red "untouched" (as in stock) 98 GSX with 52k miles coming in though. I may consider that, but am always looking at other options.

Do you know of any other dependable places in Florida that won't swindle me out of my money? I kinda need a 98/99 'cause my credit union won't finance me for an older one.

Check autotrader & local auto sales mags you pick up at the gas stations.. I've seen quite a few GST & GSX models in there.

I considered that $14k "untouched" 52k mile '98 GSX for about.. 25 seconds. Why blow that much money? You can get a GSX for $5-7k.. 52k miles is enough to have some serious wear on an engine if it wasn't taken care of.

That's why I went with my $5k '95 GSX.. I'd rather put that extra $9k in mods. It took less than $500 of very minor repairs (new carpet & buying some interior trim pieces) and a couple days of cleaning to make it look "untouched" - and the engine is in great shape. Unless you've just got $25k to throw down on a car, don't buy one that's 7-8 years old at $4-5k over blue book value.

If he's going to install those extra mods.. don't let him raise the price on you for them - I'm sure he's already making at least $5k in profit on the car. Those parts would only add up to about $900-1k. Since you have this site, you do NOT need to pay for labor on those.

Find me one silencer. You seem to have better luck than I do.

Just saw at least 10 GSX's in the $5k-7k range.. and I was only looking at 2g's. Expand that to include Talons and there'd be quite a few more. Go for 1g's too and you've got quite a selection.

Edit: That's where I found mine - it was initially listed as a GST - but when I read the description it said AWD so I took a look and sure enough it was a GSX.

Alright thanks a lot man. I was thinking the same thing. I guess I will keep watching Ebay too for anything in the SE that seems nice. If you come across anyone in Florida with a 98 or 99 for sale let me know. Until then I'll keep hunting.

I actually baught my GST from them about a week and half ago for 9k. I had never driven a turbo charged car before so i didn't know what to expect. After getting it to my house and talking with friends I realized i had a few problems. They said they dont let their cars go with them having problems. Well they sure let this one go. I have boost leak, exhaust leak (hole in down pipe from what I have seen). And a possible problem with my clutch. Sure they seem nice and there to help you out but in all honesty they are pretty much want to get rid of you. They do apply custom work on their cars though. They might not have done custom work on thet GSX but i did see first hand they were doing things to this green GST in their garage.

That GSX is pretty damn fast, I took a ride in it on the back streets.

The white '98 GST yours? :)

Did you see the black GSX that is right above the red GSX? How did it look inside and out? Or was that the one you rode in? If it is the one you rode in, they must not be too eager to sell their cars because I told him to call me the minute it gets in so I can come look at it, because I am definitely buying a GSX and have the money. I don't know how I can be any clearer than that.

There IS a burgandy GSX 20 miles from me in autotrader, but it has ricer tail lights and ugly flashy chrome wheels. Also doesn't look to be in tip-top shape but the ad says a Mitsu tech just did a complete rebuild.

Ahh.. the carsearch4u.net $10k burgundy GSX with injen pipe and the ugliest f'n wheels I've ever seen located in Plant City. I considered that one too.. and that was 6 months ago - it still hasn't sold? :)

Yeah I was going to come buy the 99 GSX with the new paint the day after I saw the ad but someone already put a deposit on it.

And yes, I was referring to the carsearch4u eclipse. I'm just gonna keep looking. How often do 98/99 GSX's pop up in excellent condition around here? I just started really looking about a week or so ago.

Just keep in mind that if you're in a rush you'll end up paying more.. just wait and jump on one when a great deal comes along.. and there will always be another great deal coming along. These cars aren't a fraction as rare as trying to find a stock mk4 Supra TT - I know because I tried for a year and a half.

if you still want to consider that 99gsx they have you still can. when i came to pick up my car i asked about it. they said the person put a deposit down but they havnt heard from them in a while and the deposit was going to end shortly. that was over a week ago.

Last time I talked to him was last Friday and he said the guy was still coming to get it and he would call me if the guy decided not to. I'm leaving to go to Louisville tomorrow so unfortunately I can't go over there this weekend but I'm going to give him a call Sunday night and find out why he hasn't called me.

I'm also going to talk to the guys at Hillsboro Auto Mart here in Tampa, they sell nice vehicles, and they can usually locate any vehicle you want in any condition you want.
