Powdercoat Calipers? Need Advice.

I was wondering if anyone had some tips for preping the calipers before i have them powdercoated. What i should and shouldnt get paint on? Any advice from experience?

If you plan on tracking the car, don't powdercoat. It can't hold up to the heat. If I had my digital with me, I'd show you some pics. The rears have held up fine since they don't get nearly as hot. But my front Baer calipers are permanently toasty brown now. I'm going to try that high-temp paint that companies like Eastwood sell next. That is supposed to hold up to the heat.

did you cover anything on the caliper when you have them coated? I think im gonna have them done anyways, i dont plan on abusing the brakes. any suggestions on brake pads with low dust? My plan is to use powerslot rottors, powdercoat the calipers, get some good pads, and steel braided brake lines. Going for looks temporarily till i can afford to do them right. I just want something nice behind my wheel.

I assume that you are not going to do it yourself. If you are sending them out, then let the shop deal with it... they *should* know what they're doing.

Yeah im def. sending them out to have them done. But i want to make sure they dont screw them up by coating something they shouldnt. Any advice welcome.

In powdercoating you have to electrostatically charge the parts, then spray them with an inversely charged powder so the powder "sticks" to them.

You then bake them.

It's not a process you can do with just an oven.
