yea im puttin about $4000 into the engine alone, but if i got it to spend why not. and NO mom and dad do not pay for the shit going on my car. i work for my own money. and being a supervisor at age 20 making $25,000 a year pretty pays for anything i need.

besides like i said, i just want a bad ass street demon.

ok, lets disect this statement. a standalone for $2100, that may or may not be the best kit to purchase for a 420a. or a portfueler that is made for the 420a by people that deal with 420a's all day for $1200. lets not forget that i said i got the portfueler AND a full FMIC KIT with all piping, plus a new actuater for my turbo for a little over $2000 (didnt even go past $2100).

NO THANX. i believe i made the wiser choice. Wtf do i need a standalone for anyways. im not running my car at the track every day nor is it for any kind of racing circuit. its just going to be one bad ass daily driver. Thanx for the input though..... WTF

I suppose Hahn told you that the Portfueler was ready to go and was already "tuned"

The map on the (crappy) software is extremly rich. You need to have it dynoed and tuned for your setup. The only person that is close to having the portfueler tuned is suieclipse and he even has problems with it. Good choice on the FMIC though

well i was planning on having the car dyno'd anyways. as for the software, i didnt buy the tuning software for the laptops becuase im not ready to tune it that much yet, but i guess whatever its pre-programmed with, ill just have to tune for that. hopefully everything works out good.

as for the FMIC i thought was the best choice becuase i wouldnt have to worry about piecing pipe together to make it work.

How are you going to tune if you don't have the software?

the tuning software that Hahn sells is only to tune the portfueler to compensate for racing cams or aftermarket cam gears, things like that. However, Im not chaning the cams or cam gears yet so i dont need it yet, hence why i said, i didnt buy it at this time. Besides that the MSD DIS 2 im buying has an option to tune the turbo for high RPMs, which is another reason i really dont need the software just yet.

Well, I came across a buy I couldn't refuse. I got the hahn injector rail/ fuel rail, RC 440 injectors, aeromotive afpr and HKS aic fuel controller. The nice thing about the HKS aic is that it will run the 4 injectors, also does not require a lap top to tune. It is a rather simple controller that will get the job done. So I suggest this set-up for those daliy drivers looking for something better.

i don't flame much but.... 25,000 a year at age 20 is cool however you either live with mommy and daddy or you live in your car because 25,000 might pay for a 2 bedroom apt. a car note, and some insurance. oh yeah food, clothes, and basic cable if you work it right.

it all depends on where you live. my dad makes a pretty decent amount of money, but around here everything is expensive as hell. you would be amazed at the little 1 story piece of shit houses that will sell for over 400,000

ok let me clarify. one i actually make between 30-32k a year, didnt compensate for my last promotion and what not, anyway it doesnt matter. and yea i live with my dad becuase like i said, im 20, im in college, and its been just me and my dad since i was 3 so we're more like brothers then father and son. my car is payed for, i pay all my own bills, plus i pay some bills around the house. and the cost living around here isnt that much. so i could move out if i wanted to, but im doing better off by not. and it may seem like im braggin but im really not. i just got lucky and got a job that provides me with enough money to take care of myself and fix up my car. thats the only reason i even brought up my yearly income, bc DSM-ZERO said i was spending alot of money on my car. and ill agree that i am, but its better to pay alot and do it right the first time, then try to be cheap and pay double fixing sh!t the second time around.

anyways im gonna drop this before a mod closes this post. as for the portfueler, i got it in the other day and its bad aZZ. ill post pics as soon as i get a day off work. ill also post pics of the bottom end kit i ordered from Howell and the FMIC that i got from Hahn as well.

Actually, I dont have any problems with it at all. I love the system.

I just dont have it tuned yet because i haven't had time to take my car over 3 hours to a shop or 6 hours to HRC.

yea i want to take my car to HRC to get it tuned. but i might just try to take it to MachV, they are closer to me anyways.

I called HRC and they told me they don't have a showroom they don't have a dyno and they don't work on any cars, there shop is just a warehouse with a few offices. They also told me who does all or most of the tuning for Hahn and that's Area One in Chicago by airport there #847-671-6969 talk with Todd. The cost is $125/hr w/ your tuner or $75/hr and takes about 1-2 hours theres a 5%-20% hp gain, so they said.

I have the Star turbo kit and when I called Hahn about the portfueler they said that I should also buy there Fuel Map $100.00, has any one else with this same setup bought the fuel Map or not and been fine?

The fuel map is part of the kit. It is the Split Second tuning software that is optional and it is only 50 bucks. If you buy a complete kit they preload the base map onto the ecu.

Yes it runs rich. No its not hard to tune. If you have a datalogger that does, afr, boost and rpms like the zeitronix. When I first installed my kit it showed an AFR of 9.6:1 at 10psi across the rpm spectrum. Now just with street tuning using my zeitronix it shows 11.5 up until 18psi across the rpm spectrum.
I have never taken it to a dyno to see how much power it is making because I dont feel like driving the 2 hours to the nearest one so I dont know how much it is putting down.
