Hey guys sorry If this has been covered but I have been searching all over the forums for the last week about information on DSM idle surge, and i found a decent amount for 2.0 DOHC N/T & Turbo, but nothing about 2.4 L SOHC.

I been having idle surges that only happen after the car is warm. I had quite a few codes to go through considering the lady I got it from did no maintenance. I nailed all the codes down by changing my coolant (HORRIBLY GROSS) changing my thermostat, new front O2 sensor, and just pulled my EGR and completely cleaned in and rammed almost a foot of wire up each side of the intake and knocked it clean which was almost completely closed off. Cleaned my plugs (stock NGK's that looked GREAT just white carbon on all 4 cylinders), even used a can of Intake cleaner and now 2 cans of Sea foam new oil, filter AND found a yellow oil pressure sending unit that was broken off the entire time. Now I have yet to get another CEL code BUT it still hasnt helped my fix my surge! even looked for vacuum leaks but don't hear anything unusual except for what sounds like my cam making noise only at idle but that's normal I think..

It doesn't do it ALL the time, doesn't do it while it's running either. Only when It has been shut off while it's hot and I start it back up from a grocery store or a short stop! Its Driving me NUTS!

I have looked everywhere for a way to test my ISC/IAC but only found information on how to test the 2.0 DOHC my plugs look different they are all 6 pins in a vertical line and I would like to know how many coils and the resistance these engines have on them and any help on fixing this issue would be GREATLY appreciated!!

---also turning on the A/C kicks up idle fine, shutting off kicks it down fine, normall idles fine just so random and annoying >.<

i read through that and done almost all of it but it seems they are also speaking of the 2.0 dohc, the plugs are different and the actual IAC/ISC looks wayy different i found on another site that they said these only have two coils instead of three and didn't find any info on the ohms those coils run :S thanks though! also when my car is hot and I start it and it revs to 3grand then drops and surges I shut it off and restart it and usually within one to two starts I get a normal start so I dont actually drive it during the surge (just not safe as hard as it pulls being an automatic while in gear) so that maybe why NO DTC CEL has came on :(

when i bought the car the flex pipe was rusted apart, took it to the shop 150 bucks later got a new flex pipe welded in, and as far as i know it should be sealed good but when i ran that smokey sea foam through it tonight i noticed a tiny bit of smoke coming from the front of the engine near the manifold (cud have been a bit of wind blowing that stuff back under the car) but it sure did kind of look as though it was coming from the manifold....but its so quiet i would think a small leak that close to the block would make a rucuss, and no i do not have a manual when i got the car i downloaded one online for 2.4s but doesnt look 100% like my exact year but is very similar also it didnt show anything about testing the isc coils either LOL

edit - after reading hypergenises post about battery worth a shot to see if these models have a bettery heat sensor that could fell down, or unplugged. It stays consistantly charged no dim headlights or accessories but any one know if these cars have them?
