Someone, somewhere suggested that offset less than about +35mm is likely to result in accelerated bearing wear on DSM’s. This has since become a rule of thumb. Many serious racers use really wide tires on reduced offset wheels, but I guess when racing, wear on just about everything is accelerated.

Bottom line: They will fit.

Edit: The wheels that is. The tire are really too wide for 7" wheels and would poke out from under your fenders. 215's or 225's would be more appropriate.

Yeah, that's the key problem. Don't go paying a ton of money for 17x7s. Just not worth it. A +35 offset is perfect for some 245/40/17s (although many tires this size will work on anything up to +40), but you really really don't want to put 245s on a 7" wheel, especially when it's a 245/40.

2 Questions  .......Why does a maximum offset resulting in about 1 inch or so of tire sticking outside of the fender well make quicker bearing wear when it seems that a wider wheel would decrease wheel pivoting from side to side? Let's say that you want a reduced offset less than 35mm for racing applications, where do you go to upgrade to more durable bearings or get replacements if that's the case?

You would need to use original equipmen bearings and hubs. They run a little over a hundred bucks each but maybe you could negotiate a volume discount.
