I have a bosch univ. wide band o2 sensor. i bought the car about a month ago and the first o2 sensor has been shot for about a year so its killing my mpg.

The problem is i have no clue where/how to start on changing it. My main focus on the whole deal is the wireing. can someone please walk me through on installing it please?

thanks a million :dsm:

go grab a new one from autozone. get a wrench down by the lower exh. man. heat shield and take it out, then put the new one in, might have to cut the old one off the wiring and wire the ne one up with wire connectors.

i bought the bosch univ. already. is hte oe wireing the same as the univ. a black, two whites and a grey? is so could i just cute the oe wiring in half and solder the new one's wires into the old one and not have to worry about dicking with the wiring?

A wide band will not work on your car with out some way of monitoring it. The factory ecu is not designed to read a wide band. The factory o2 only cover from 0-1.0 volts and a wideband covers 0-5.0 volts. Your best bet would be to spend about $100 for a new denso replacemnt o2 sensor or you can skimp and get a bosch factory replacement for $60-75.

I see you posted again right before me. If its just a universal replacement, its not wideband. Yes, splice the wires according to color. The 2 white wires can be switched around so dont worry about that. You should have received instructions and a harness connector with it that tells you how to do it.

ok im reading over the box and instructions and it doesn't say wide band, someone told me that four wires are wide band. but it says univ. for all domestic and imports.

on the box it says Bosch premium o2 sensor

by looking at this, it looks like its going to be a pain in the assssssssss. im thinking about waiting till next month when i get my new turbo installed just having him do the o2 sensor but man my mpg sucks ballzzz

A 4 wire o2 sensor is just a heated sensor, not a wideband. Anyway, its easy and should not take much time. Gray goes to gray, black to black, and both whites to white. Its just their connector that makes things complicated.

Another helpful hint would be to disconnect the battery. You will have a wrench down in the area of the alternator and could arc it. I am assuming the O2 housing is still in the car and it will be in there when you swap out the sensor. Not speaking from first hand experience or anything :D .
