Hey guys, I'll be towing my 1g to phx in a few months, but already in the process of building an engine. It looks like i'm leaning towards a 2.3 stroke with 272 cams.

What are my chances for passing smog with that build? I know there are a couple of guys around with some sick dsm builds, how are you guys getting around smog. your advice would be greatly appreciated. also please send me any information through PM that you might think is sensitive and should not be put on this thread.

Won't be hard at all. 272 isn't a very aggresive cam for a 2.3. And you are 1g AWD so they are just going to sniff your exhaust. I tested mine and I passed the sniffer with 2.3 and 288's. All in how you set up your tune for it. I did some major adjustments to get it to read right.

Since he has a 1g OBD2 testing isn't an issue. All they will do is hook a sniffer up to your exhaust at idle. Very easy to pass since Phx can't do AWD cars on their roller setups and can't check for MIL's because there is no OBD2 port.

sweet thanks guys, well that takes care of my fears about building the motor that i want!
