Patchin a tranny case

Well found out why I had no tranny fluid. It looks like I bottomed out on something and hit the tranny case which caused a piece of the case to break off. Now I have this nice 1in hole in the case. The best part about this is that I just got done puting 400 bucks in cause my timing jumped so now I have no money. I need to find a way to patch it up w/out having to take the damn thing off. What would anyone recomend. I can't find a place around here that will weld a patch w/ it on the car. I need something that will keep a good seal. Would JB cut it? I'm going to degrease the whole area and look into something to patch it. Would patching material from like a gas tank work for this. How much pressure is in transmission? I'm just looking for suggestions/ideas.

Sorry man but the best thing to do, would be to use some sheetmetal and have it welded on to the spot. Thats a pretty big hole. I dont think this is a job for JB Weld

I don't recomend this as a permanent solution, but it could work if you get creative with the JB weld.

Get some sheet aluminum and tin snips, cut out a pece that's roughly 1/2" bigger than the hole. Shape the patch so it roughly conforms to the shape of the transfer case where the hole is. Use a generous ammount of JB weld to hold it in place. Use enough so the JBweld squishes out around the edges so it overlaps the edges of the plug.

Like you said, it needs to be really clean before applying the JB weld. Finish cleaning with brake parts cleaner or acetone to get the most strength out of the bond.
