Does anybody know of any paint that bonds to the lower rubber/ plastic trim good. I know dupuicolor will work in the upper trim quite well cause it leaves a rubber coating on the metal, but I need to know whether or not theres a way to dye/paint the rubber/plastic trim. I HAVE read all the other post, but everyone either says just buy new ones or they have tips for the 1g lower trim which is nothing like the 2g lower trim.

oh and umm......:rocks::hellyeah::rocks::hellyeah::rocks::hellyeah:

Thanks,
Ian

Advance Auto here in town sells some paint I forgot the brand called trim paint or something along the lines, I bought a can and used it on my Camaro's back trim and it worked great! It says you need to scuff it, but I just cleaned it real good.

I personally trimmed mine with a razor blade both top and bottom , then peeled the rubber off, then masked off area around it it with three layers of 2" tape, then sanded it with 120 grit very thouroughly, then degreased it, epoxy primed it, sanded it with 400 grit, and then degresed it again then applied rustoleum professional grade flat black in three moderate coats, and to this day looks great and is holding well! It's been about two years now. Just my two cents:cool:

I'm going to try Wurth trim paint on mine. Wurth makes some great paint, but it might be hard to come by locally. I've used this on other items, like the wiper stalks, the cowl, and my peeling nasty mirrors. I replaced the upper window trim since it's not that expensive, but the bottoms are rediculous.

That's the stuff! Wurth I believe it was, that stuff worked great on my Camaro! It hasn't faded or changed in the three years of me having it on my car.

You were successful because yours was a 1g. 2g dont have metal under the lower trim so you cant shave them Coolio :cool:

But good idea
