Painting Calipers and RoadRacing/AutoX

Getting ready all the stuff for my brake upgrade and thought about painting my calipers a darksilver/gray color. Will the paint ignite when autocrossing/roadracing/braking hard? What temp. paint should I get?

I used 1200 degree aluminum colored duplicolor paint and a 1200 degree clearcoat.
You burn that off and I think the paint will be the last of your worries.

agreed. I've heard stories of 500 degree engine enamel on calipers catching on fire during events.

Where's a good place to get 1200 degree clear? The only stuff I can find in the local auto stores is 500 degree engine enamel clear.

try a hardware store. I haven't seen any 1200 degree clear, but I bought a can of Rustoleum 1200 degree silver paint at Lowe's.

It took me forever to find the high temp clear too but I finally did so I'll save you some time


1200 degree duplicolor paint available at almost any auto store.

1200 degree clearcoat is made by VHT. Part of there "flame proof" paint series. Summit racing sells it. I couldnt find it in ANY stores locally.
