I hear these are bad? could this be why my alternator might be having a hard time recharging my battery, becasue there is a bad connection? If so what kind of terminals should i get?

Don't paint them. This could very well be the reason why you battery will not charge well.

I bought some from autozone when my stock ones were old and corroded. So go to autozone and buy some new ones (it will probably only cost you like 5 bucks) and DON'T paint them.

If your problem persists, then its most likely your alternator.

yea, if your terminals are painted that could cause some unwanted resistance, also u wanna make sure that the termianals are actually painted, because there are terminal protectors that get sprayed on terminals which are red in color, those only help

i didnt paint them i picked them up at a shop and they are colored red and black. im wonderign if i should maybe get solid copper or soemthing?

As long as the paint isn't on any surface where the connectors contact the actual terminals, you'll be fine. Those areas should be a dull silver color (lead color actually).

^^ i agree with Vel. You may also want to put some petrolium jelly on the terminals to make sure you have a good connection.

You can also use the di-electric gel you put on spark plugs (can be found at Autozone or the like).

I bought a pair of the $5 prepainted ones because they were pretty. They aren't designed for DSM battery wires, all you have to do is grind off the paint where the metal makes contact and you're set.

Absolutely nothing wrong with painted terminals.
