Ok Serious Question About Dirt To Manifold

Ok...my CAI sits really low to the ground. I mean its like 3 inches off the ground and it seems to be ok when I use zipties to hold it steady against a hose or something. Well when i was racing last night, the zip ties must've broke and my filter must've hit the ground and broke off. Now the thing is, i drove a good 50miles hitting 90-100 on average for a good hour or so. I checked it this morning and the filter is gone. meaning the intake was sucking in dirt and/or dust. How much harm could this have done to my car??? I'm getting a new filter ASAP soon as autozone opens this morning because the shop i wanted to buy it from is closed and I cannot wait on this.

take the hose off and lok inside tb, I'd even look inside the manifold to see if it's dirty. If you did suck in anything it's too late to do anything about it now.

Dirt and engine don't go together. And yes, it would be too late to do anything now. But if it's broken, just rebuild it with better parts.

phew...is it a possibilty my car will die on me or somethin? because i ran my finger inside of the CAI piping and there was some black dust on my finger.

I doubt it now, if it hasn't started acting up already then I doubt it will at all.

Couple of things:

If the sun's out, you aren't getting cold air off blacktop until you get about two feet up.

Second, roadways are pretty clean. You probably didn't hoover up so much dirt as rubber.

However, if you'd fed that air cleaner to a turbo, it'd be a different song. With a very nasty final verse.
