Oil Temp Sender Placement

I have an aftermarket oil temp guage. I was planning on tapping into my oil pan and placing the sender there. Is there a better place to get a more accurate oil temp than in the oil pan?

Y would you want oil temp ? the hell of it ? id think ya can find a spare hole in the filter housing.
