oil pressure

just a quick question, i have a problem and just need to know what the typical oil pressure should be according to mitsubishi or if you know. i use mobil 1 10w 30 if it makes a difference.

At idle? 9-12 psi

My talon on the other hand veried from 0-15psi on any given day!
0psi of course I never let it get there for more than a millisecond. Found out the problem was an incorrectly blocked off oiling gland from the removed balance shafts. So thats what the other bearing was for

Idle my car would go as low as 10psi. Start up would get over 100psi. Driving would vary between 20-90ish depending on RPM. This was a 97 GST, btw.

so what your saying is that around 10 psi at idle and anything over during driving (up to 100)

9psi per 1000rpms is perfect.
As long as you sustain that you can ensure the longivity of the motor.

Yes, but that was on my GST. If the Balance shafts are out the readings will be higher, but mine were in. I take it yours are too.

Bear in mind that DSMs are reading the pressure right at the pump outlet- many engines measure on the block, or another similarly-removed location.

I'd think the most useful location for a pressure sensor might be up on the head.
