i was tooling around the bottom of my engine the other day and noticed that the oil drain fitting from my turbo is loose
the line from the turbo is tight but the fitting itself, the one that actually goes through the oil pan turns
is this normal or should this fitting be completely tight against the oil pan
reason i ask is that i do not want to pull the oil pan if i dont have to

i like your answer
not leaking (yet)
not going to worry about it

if you mean the nipple you tapped into the oil pan is spinning.... GET THAT OIL PAN OFF NOW!!!! if that bolt on the back comes off, your crank is toast

thank you
i was wondering if the inside of the oilpan fitting had a nut or if it was a flange that just pressed through
so it is two male ends and a nut on either side

but yes the nipple that the drain hose bolts too spins
so i am glad that i went ahead and bought the oil pan gasket
just in case

i have heard that the oil pan can come off without taking off the center crossmember
i guess that i will have to test out that theory

well
its wierd
i can spin the nipple but there is no in or out movement
that was what was confusing me
no leakage
and i would think that if the nut on the inside was loose i could push the nipple in and get some movement

i really wish i had installed my turbo kit myself
then i would know these things i suppose

not a good idea
motor was rebuilt with all the mods in my profile less than a year ago

thanks snoopy

pulled oil pan off last night and the retaining nut had backed itself about halfway out
the only thing holding it on was some rtv silicon that had been put on the threads at the end

btw oil pan is a snap
left the crossmember in place
took the the down pipe off
10mm socket, and open ended wrench
two bloody knuckles

walla
