Oil Breathers?

I could notpull upinfo. Can't do anything much for$8. Check out www.dejontool.com and his crankvent. The crankcase can become pressurize from blowby/boost past rings. If your oil dip dtick ever pps out that is par of the condition. Then as the pistons are in the downstroke they are pushing against pressure. A crankvent creates a vacuum/neutral condition in the case allowing easier spinning of the crank/pistons. That's my take on it but check out the real info at dejon. Mark

That is a valve cover breather. They go on the little knobby thing that is on the left side of your valve cover. You just pop off the hose that is on there now and put that in it's place. you should also block off the hole that is left over in your intake pipe.

ok, so that's simple enough, right? but the question is, should you do it? probably not. why? well, first off, airborn oil likes to exit through that little breather which is presently being routed back into your intake. putting the breather on will cause lots of oil to be blown into your engine bay. it's not pretty. what you can do though is get a small fuel filter (look in my gallery, you can see mine) and put it in line with the hose that goes back to your intake. then what you have is an emmisions legal setup that keeps oil from being blown back into your intake. just make sure you change the filter every so often. i change mine like every 6k miles, or whenever there is a lot of oil sitting in the thing.

i just bought some vaccum line the same size as the nipple on the valve cover and ran it down towards the ground. i had a valve cover breather filter and it filled with oil in the first few months. dripped everywhere.

If you're in an area where corrosion is a high threat, one of those breathers will keep your engine fresh by coating every goddamned thing under the hood with a microfine layer of dirt-attracting oil mist.

Do this instead:
