These two things may or may not be related, but I decided I'd make a thread for both given these are the only two things that are keeping me from having some fun with my brand new motor.
I've searched and searched on here for these problems, and it seems everybody has slightly different symptoms and everybody fixes things differently, so I figured I'd start fresh here.
I'm around 2400 km's on a freshly built motor. Arias pistons, eagle rods... rings were apparently gapped for about 26psi according to the shop that put the rings on and gapped them before I put them in.
BASICALLY, I'm dealing with two problems I'm trying to illeviate here.
Problem #1 : High Oil Pressure.
I've got an AEM digital oil pressure gauge, and it's plumbed into the oil pump. I read in some threads that this was the optimal place to get the pressure reading, then I read in other threads that this is a poor place to get the reading. When I first start the car, if it's been sitting, it's probably around 80psi at idle, but as the car warms up, it comes back down to around 10-20 psi at idle. I believe that's fairly normal, but once I start driving it's a different story.
As it is, I rarely drive over 4000rpms right now because I'm worried about the oil pressure. It seems to hit 100psi without trouble, and that's unfortunately where my gauge stops it's reading and won't go any higher. If I rev it up pretty high in neutral, I've seen it slam into "100" and then give a "---" reading... this worries me. It almost seems like somewhat of a warning. I'm going to give AEM a call about what that one means whenever I get a chance.
So basically, is my oil pressure way too high? Or am I just reading it from a bad place? And if it IS too high, what can I do to bring it back down to a safer level? I'm almost worried the oil pump isn't actuating the pressure in any way.
This is a 1g swap with balance shafts eliminated.
Problem #2 : Crankcase pressure?
I've looked around and noticed that the dipstick popping out has been a pretty common issue for people, but from what I understand, everybody was having this problem under boost. I, however, haven't even put any boost through this motor yet. I haven't even hit 4psi yet, and the dipstick is popping out. I'm not even flooring it yet, and rarely even going above 4000rpms. I'm pretty much terrified of trying to put any power through the motor as it is now.
I could use a new dipstick for sure, (anybody know where I can get one for cheap?), but something tells me that the dipstick is not my only problem here. As mentioned earlier, I was told that my rings were gapped for 26psi...
