Hi guys. This will be my first post so give me alittle leway if I make a mistake. I bought a turbocharged 420a thats running the portfueler and MSD DIS-II. Awhile back the motor quit on me. A years worth of trouble shooting an money saving has left me with some questions. Right around when the motor quit the oil pan gasket leaked oil all over the harness. Literally it will drip out of the wiring at the sensors at the back of the motor. I know EFI relys on the electrical signals from sensors so generally will this cause senors to fail? Or atleast malfunction? Any infomations helpful im trying to learn as much as possible. Other then that here some information on my car currently. The engine will crank but not fire. It has good compression to all cylinders and spark to all cylinders. Fuels getting to all cylinders to from what i have figured out. Basicly from what Ive gathered im looking at replacing the CPS and possibly the ECU. Any ideas? Im just going to school now so you all probly know alot more then me. Pick my brain, ask me questions about my car. I need help! Thanks.

Heres a picture of the mess. Kinda gives you an idea of what im dealing with. I wont quit on this car though Im young and waaaay to stuborn.

I'm not sure how the wiring harness got covered in oil due to a faulty oil pan gasket... do you mean valve cover gasket?

The sensors and various connectors should be fairly well protected from this sort of damage; after all, they can withstand water after it rains. I wouldn't replace any sensor or the ECU just yet.

Are there any CEL's or error codes? You said you're sure you're getting fuel -- what about compression or spark?

The engine oil pan gasket failed right near the oil filter. Theres oil up and down the back of the engine block. Theres also alittle antifreeze that i cannot determine the cause of. But either way theres alot of fluids that are covering the CPS sensor and oil pressre sensor. Seems like they should be protected from the elements but i was wondering, by chance if it did reach the wiring. What kind of havoc could this cause on the signals the sensors put out? The harness is all types of hacked up too by the way, i know this doesnt help. Before the engine quit i was getting a MAP sensor code which we fixed with a missing link. Then after that i was getting cylinder 1 missfires then multiple cylinder missfires i think it was 1, 3, and 4. After the motor quit, We tested spark with a good old screwdriver and right now all the spark plugs are getting spark. Compression is at 140-145 across all cylinders as the car sits right now. Which leads me to another question. When the car ran an i took it to a shop they tested the car at 170-175 across all the cylinders. Why is there a 30psi drop across all cylinders?
Ive replaced the coil, ohmed the wires spark plug wires, done compression tests, and spark tests. Nothing has helped get my car to fire. Or pointed me in the right direction. I found a used ecu in my area for $50 so im going to wing it and pick it up. Worst comes to worse i resell it. Please ask more questions i appreciate the help.

If you have oil and coolant all over then more than likely your headgasket went. You would have a hard time sending oil UP the block from a pan gasket.

Its a multilayer steel headgasket. Think it actually failed? The antifreeze seems to be coming from the back right corner of the motor. Near the throttle body. Just wondering if theres like a freeze plug or something that could leak around there.. I got a nasty feeling i gotta take the head off dont i?

Sounds to me like a head gasket...if they're going to fail that's generally the spot (right under the throttle body). Plus if you have a bad oil pan gasket the oil usually doesn't travel up :S

Haha learn somthing new everyday. Yeah i forgot about that whole gravity thing. Well sounds like ill be pulling my head off. Starting.... tommorow :) Any links on write ups, or more information you guys could shortcut me too? Thanks fellas.

Don't forget that the coolant lines going to the heater core are right under the TB. Over time, the hoses on the hardlines started to leak, and coolant was getting on the back on the block/head/trans. Might want to check that out to see if it's leaking from there first. That's a simple fix. If stock clamps are on there, replace them too. Pull the battery and tray to make it a little easier to get to.

Hiyah fellas,
Just an update, the car still does not run. I did another compression check and its all good across all cylinders. I also replaced the Crank Position Sensor for cheap and that didnt fix my problem. Im pretty positive the coolant leak is from lines to the heater core. So im looking at problems other then headgasket failure.

QUESTION 1: How do I check my injectors since the car wont run. I have a Port fueler so theres 8 and I have no clue what kinda of injectors they are. So using the haynes books ohm specifications wouldnt help, right?

QUESTION 2: The gas in my car is going on 2yrs old. Would this gas even allow the car to start? haha

Thanks in advance
