how to install HID for the stock Eclipse gsx 2gb stock fog lights?

Very bloody carefully.

I just put a set of 3000ks in my new fogs I'm installing this weekend. I'll tell you now, for a nice install there is a bit of cutting and soldering involved but it can be done.

I'll try to snap pics tomorrow seeing as my lights are at work and I'm not ATM.

All in all, I'm planning on snapping A LOT of pics as I put them on showing how I mounted, where and the like. I'll even do a write-up on it, because I'm a cool guy like that. :thumb:

Good looks man!

I've been looking for a write up on how to mount them and put HID's on.

I really didn't want to take them all back apart but its pretty straight forward. It'l all make sense once you see it in person.

Befor you begin, the OEM fog lamp bulb is an H3. Get a 35w kit as it is a small housing and will easily trap heat. All of the instructions assume the lamp is off the car.

On the back of the lamp there are three small phillips screws to remove that lets the cover come off.

Underneath there is a clip like in the headlights holding the bulb in and another wire screwed to the clip holding the wire down.

Unclip the wire, remove the bulb and place aside, unscrew the clip, remove the wire then reattach the wire clip without the ground wire.

Use wire cutters to cut the OEM harness, remove through the small grommet and PLACE ASIDE, you will want the plug later.

Insert HID bulb, bending the wire around the bulb and securing it to the clip.

Cut both wires to the bulb and feed them through the small rubber grommet. Lubing the wires with some petroleum jelly will make this easier.

Reattach as you feel fit. Soldering is always better but crimping should work as long as it's secured and waterproofed with heat shrink.

Reattach the back cover carefully as the HID base is longer than a halogen H3. Take your time with the wire and make sure the cover is tight, it seals the lamp from moisture.

Attach the end of the OEM harness with the plug to the input wire for the ballast using the cut/solder/heatshrink method as before.

Find a nifty safe and dry place to mount the ballast on the car and reinstall.

Here ar some pictures of my finshed lamps before install, maybe it'll give you some reference.

I'm torn between ordering stock foglights or aftermarket Ebay one's! Such a pain trying to figure out which would be easier to put HID's in.
