I was pulling out my plug wires when I noticed the #2 plugwire was covered in this white sort of powder, also the plug well was covered in it. I then pulled out the sparkplug and the end looks fine, no damage, but the white stuff was also along the top of the plug where the wire connects to. Is this a bad plug wire perhaps shorting itself on the head?? Car was running fine before i pulled and inspected.

My 1g hood is a modded stock hood, with a vent added and no underbrace, so it doesn't have the heat guard any longer. But there was no signs of heat or the white substance on the underside of the hood. Odd.

The only thing that I can think of is that it might be electralisys from bad wires arcing to the aluminium valve cover and corroding. This bad wire problem was probably from a previous owner. You said that the car was running fine so I would either replace the valve cover or clean that sucker up real nice and see if it happens again.
