OBD II to usb

I don't think this would work for a palm but would a OBD II to usb work for a laptop??
E-bay has these for a range of prices what would be the difference? I would get one of these for my laptop to try it if it would be worth it.

I got one of those things. Not really worth it. Put that money towards a better logger. Something like Evoscan. That's probably my next step.
