Shiloh,
I have been reading up on o2 housings (doing mods research) and I just had a few questions.

1. How is the compatibility between o2 housings and the turbo determined, is it size? or is it the style of turbo exhaust side? I.E. Garret, vs Mitsu style housing.

2. Will the stock o2 bolt up to all mitsu style turbos and hybrids, or will larger turbos need bigger o2's?

3. Do downpipes have to be flanged specifically for a certain o2 housing, or are they universal fit? Or is it the o2 that has to be shaped for the downpipe?

Thanks in advance

We will get to you with out you bumping a thread. Bumping a thread is not allowed.

The O2 housings are all going to fit just fine for the same type turbo IE.. Garrett/Mitsu.

The Garrett will have different number of bolts for different housings but I wouldn't worry about that until you go full Garrett. The 14B all the way up to a 50 trim use the same exhaust housing as far as bolt pattern goes if they use a Mitsu housing. The only differance would be when using a differant DP then you may have a hard time getting it to fit the O2 housing. The reason for this is becasue the O2 is only about 2 inches ID and alot of DP are 2.5 or 3 inches. So you can see why they may align in a goofy way. Most DP will have slotted bolt holes so that they will fit with a smaller O2 housing, but it will be different for each vendor.

So a stock o2 housing (probably going to be ported) would be perfectly feasible stuck inbetween a PTE 50 trim? (hybrid) and a 3" Dp (like an N1)? Not saying this is a good idea, but funds are limited, so I might not be able to replace the o2 for some time. Thanks for your help.

Yes it will be ok. I would go with a 2G or EVOIII O2 housing you can get them cheap from the trader. I have seen a 1G and an EVOIII next to each other and there is a good amount of size difference. RNR also makes a super nice O2 elim that isn't that expensive and will give a good amount of performance gain.
