I installed my pte 6031 and my bov now sounds like a turkey at all boost levels. I did a leak test and fixed the major leaks I had. I also checked out the vac line for the bov. No leaks. Its an ebay knock off greddy. It was working fine with evo 3 at 20 psi. Now with the 6031 at all boost levels from 1-15 psi it flutters like a turkey. I have the normal e cover and internal gate. I have to make a new boost leak tester because the one I made keeps blowing off the turbo. Does anybody have a pic of their 3 inch leak tester? Also could this be compressor surge from the E cover?

Did you move the vacuum line for the bov to another source when you installed the turbo?

Did you change the pressure source for your mbc from the old turbo outlet pipe to the BOV line?

All is the same as before, all I did was take off the ic pipe and clean it with 3m adhesive remover. I am using a nipple on the middle of the intake manifold. I dont have an mbc.

Now that I think about it the chemical could have eatin the rubber inside the bov.

Did the BOV leak during the pressure test? Also, you said in your post that all vacuum lines are removed except for fpr and wastegate, what about the BOV?

I could only go up to 15 lbs before the tester would start to slide off the turbo. But by the time I could let go of it and run around and see the boost gauge, it held 5 psi and took like 30 more seconds to leak all out. I couldn't really tell. If it was leaking I couldn't tell. I need to find a better leak tester that is 3 inches. That can hold 30 psi.:sneaky:

Or you need a friend. :D

I made a leak tester that should hold. I grabbed a friend. Also I will just order a new diafram from greddy, and see what happens.:thumb:

Mine does the same thing when I changed to my 60trim. With the e316g it would make a whoosh and now it flutters even at 25psi. I just left my vacumn line from the back of the intake manifold to the bov how it was on the 16g. Mine is also the knock off greddy type s.

I hope you havent ordered that new diephram yet cause when I switched to a real greddy type S BOV. I took both the real and the knockoff apart and they insides were not the same.

If your boost drops to 5psi before you can go around and look at the gauge, you still have leaks you should fix. Also, if you test on a warm motor, it will hold better (and warm motors are where you care most about holding boost).

As for testers, you can make some with the gauge built into them for a bit more cash. Here are two designs you might want to consider.
