I've done my homework and searched. My problem is my speeometer is not working. I checked out the cable, but the cable seems fine. The other thing I considered was the speedometer and the odometer gauge. Is this one unit or two different ones? What are the chances that both will malfunction?

I drive a 90 Eclipse GS N/T, and I need to pass inspection pretty soon. any help is appreciated. I know this question may be a bit repetitive but, I can't find what I need. Thanx a bunch.

The connection that powers the speedo comes from the transmission, inside the cable there's another cable that spins(dont really know if its a cable but it spins) this is connected to the transmission, and in order to work it has to spin....

Pull off the gauge cluster, leave it as you can see the white piece at the right side with the stick in the middle, go out for a quick ride around the block, if it spins, then check the cluster.

Good luck.
It doesnt always have to be the cable, check the connection at the transmission, the gauge might not be the problem, it would be my last option because its mechanical, if the cable spins, it works. I would check the connection at the transmission and check if it turns.

Good luck.

Okay, I checked out the cable, it looks fine. (as in: it's all in one piece) But, I don't understand what you mean by spinning it. How would I do that? Sorry I'm a complete newbie.

Also, how do I take the battery tray off? I can see the two bolts, but there is a hose going to the fuse box, with that there I can't get to the bolts. If I had a camera I would post pics, sorry.
