I recently came across a puzzling problem. I have a 97 Eagle Talon (daily driver) with no mods yet. I was running a few errands before work, came home ate showered etc. When I tried to start it to go to work it turns over strong but wont start. After checking (and replacing the ign coil and cam position sensor) there is no power to the main wire harness.... Any ideas? Why would it run fine one minute shut it off and then not the next? Could it be a fuseable link, if so where? ECM?

How did you check for power to the harness? Did you try a different TR unit? Like stated above, verify if you have fuel by pulling out the plugs and looking/smelling them after cranking the motor. Hope this helps.

I once had a fuse that was blown, but it was half connected on one side to the point where it acted as a pivot point. So it would make a connection half of the time, and the nothing the other half. Took me forever to figure it out.

When i turn the key on the fuel pump kicks on but no gas on plugs (no wet or smell). What is a "TR unit"? I checked for power at the coil harness and the cam sensor harness (key on) with a test light... And all fuses appear to be fine none are blown...

When you turn your key on do you get a check engine light for a few sec?

Yes, when i turn key on check engine light comes on with other lights (cruise, abs, etc.) but goes off at the same time they do also...

This is gonna sound crazy. Check the connections at the battery, I had a similar issue and if the ecu doesn't get 12 volts it won't start. Clean the connections at the battery, make them nice and shiny.

battery connections all cleaned and recleaned... Still the same turns over and over but no fire... Stumped! I had to rent a car to get to work...! NEED HELP!!!

Stick the key in the trunk, and open it. Then close the trunk and attempt to start it. My old Spyder factory alarm would do stupid things like this, and that always worked.

Also, what about the clutch switch? Did you ever bypass it?

no alarm on the car. but i will try that. Clutch switch has never been touched to my knowledge but if that were it it wouldnt turn over at all would it? I don't seem to have any fuel either but I'm sure i hear the pump turn on when i turn the key...

ANYONE ELSE???!!! Nearly Desperate... Cant afford to take it to a mechanic but may have to...
