2G no fuel pressure solenoid?

i just realised today that there is no solenoid for the fuel pressure. the FPR (stock) has been plumbed straight into the nipple coming off of the intake manifold closest to the drivers side, which is where the boost gauge has been tapped into. is this bad that there is no solenoid?

You can run with out it...here is a quote from Taboo:

The fuel pressure solonoid can be safely removed. Its function is to increase the fuel pressure on startup by closing the vaccuum path to the fuel pressure reglator which is supposed to prevent the fuel from evaporating when the engine is hot. This is not a problem when a high volume fuel pump is being used or it may take just a big more cranking in case of completely stock fuel system

it surges at idle after first cranking it, and it sounds to me thats why. the fuel system is stock
