So for as long as ive had my car i have NEVER seen my check engine light come on, not even at start up. Whats wrong with it???

well i mean i have no cat so i know im throwing a code. it just doesnt light up, but i dont know why.

Have you scanned the car to know there is a code? Do any of the lights on the dash illuminate when you insert the key into the ignition? Do you have both the front and rear o2 sensor installed?

When i try to scan it it wont connect. And the only ones that come on when i insert the key are the seat belt and open door light. The previous owner installed some reverse gauges and ive noticed hes not the belt with electrical. When i turn on my brights my gauges turn off. So would it be just a burned out bulb or fuse? If so how do i check this?

You might want to check the bulb an replace it if it's burned or missing.
Some people will take this light bulb off when they sell their car if the check engine light was on, and since you say that the light doesn't turn on when you turn the key at start up than maybe yours is either burned or missing...

It's really easy to check. Take the gauge bezel off and take the gauge cluster off by removing the four screws holding it in place and see if the bulb is missing on the back and replace, if the bulb is there than test by putting it on another bulb's spot that you know lights up when you turn the key, if it doesn't than replace.. obvious really..
