no boost untill 6k!

hey guys i have a 95 tsi awd with a fmic and vented bov 16g turbo and external gate car spools to 3 psi untill about 6k then jumps to 10 and then the battery light and turbo light comes on im seriously thinking wastgate issue but im not sure probley need to pressure ck then go form there? as for all the lights coming on i dont get that any ideas? car does have aftermarket boost gauge

It sounds like your wastegate isn't staying closed. Check the actuator and hook a line directly to it from a pressure source bypassing any solenoids/etc. It should give you a steady 14psi.

it has an external gate on a tubular mani with a 16 g turbo

Did you weld the flapper shut? If so check and make sure the weld didnt break.

the turbo is a non gated turbo im buying a new gate so i'll see if that fixes it
