NGK Sparkplug wires install

How's it hanging fellow DSMers?? I'm doing a tune up, and decided to remove my sparkplug wires to clean them off just to make things look nicer. And I went to install them back, and thought I had the order right, but the popping of misfires happened to tell me I was wrong. Is there a universal order each cable number goes onto that corilates with the number of the wire? Any insight would be great as I hate hearing my engine cry.
